Bio

As someone who has been playing volleyball for 11 years, there is nothing that Shawny Hess hasn’t seen on the volleyball court. However, the opportunity to learn something new is what keeps her playing the game. Hess loves that volleyball is a bonding activity and a great way to meet new people.

As a 2021 graduate of Firelands High School, Hess was a three sport athlete for the Falcons participating in track & field, basketball and volleyball. She played varsity volleyball for three seasons and served as the team captain. Away from sports, she was a honors student and a member of the National Junior Honors Society, student council, and TLC.

2021 Season: Made LCCC debut on August 27, 2021 in a win against Kellogg Community College where she logged nine kills (season-high) hitting .368 . . . Set a career high in blocks against Lansing Community College on August 28, 2021 with six (five solo, one assist) . . . Played in 19 matches (started all 19)

2022 Season: Made season debut on August 20, 2022 against Edison State where she played in all five sets and recorded six kills in a win against the Chargers . . . Season-high 11 kills against Mott Community College on Aug. 27, 2022 . . . 17th in the OCCAC in total blocks and solo blocks . . . Seven matches with 3+ blocks . . . Recorded at least one block in all but four matches . . . Season-high five blocks against Cuyahoga Community College on September 14, 2022
