May 26, 2026 - - The Lorain County Community College women’s basketball team will host open gyms throughout the summer for full-time students interested in joining the Commodores for the 2026-27 season. Open gyms will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays inside the Ewing Activities Center Gymnasium on LCCC’s Elyria Campus from 6–8 p.m. and will continue throughout the summer.
April 20, 2026 - - Lorain County Community College sophomore Abbey Schmitz (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands HS) added another honor to her historic career after being named an NJCAA Division III Women’s Basketball All-American Third Team selection for the first time.
March 19, 2026 - - Lorain County Community College sophomore Abbey Schmitz (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands HS) has been named to the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) First Team All-Conference list for her second straight basketball season after delivering one of the most impressive individual campaigns in program history.
February 28, 2026 - - The Lorain County Community College women’s basketball team concluded its season in the NJCAA Mid-Atlantic District Finals with a 117–41 loss to Owens Community College on Feb. 27 in Perrysburg, Ohio.

Leo Soneson (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood HS) is the LCCC SUBWAY MARKETPLACE Athlete of the Week for the week of April 6–12, 2026. Soneson contributed on both the mound and at the plate during the week, recording two game-winning home runs and a save in LCCC’s games against Bryant & Stratton College and Kent State Tuscarawas.
