LCCC Women’s Hoops Falls to Owens in Mid-Atlantic District Finals
February 28, 2026 - - The Lorain County Community College women's basketball team concluded its season in the NJCAA Mid-Atlantic District Finals with a 117–41 loss to Owens Community College on Feb. 27 in Perrysburg, Ohio.
Chloe Meng (Elyria, Ohio/First Baptist Christian) led the Commodores with 14 points, knocking down four three-pointers and adding three assists and two steals. Abbey Schmitz (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands) finished with 12 points and eight rebounds in her final game, closing her career as LCCC's all-time leading scorer with 1,154 points. Clara McCown (Oberlin, Ohio/Oberlin) contributed eight points and two blocked shots, while Chelsey Lantsberry (Wakeman, Ohio/Vermilion) recorded five points and three rebounds.
Camrin Lowder (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion) added four assists and two steals, and BriAnna Slaughter (Lorain, Ohio/Brookside) pulled down four rebounds.
LCCC finished with 31 rebounds, 10 assists, and five steals. The game marked the final appearances as Commodores for Schmitz, Meng, and Lantsberry.
