February 9, 2026 - - The Lorain County Community College women's basketball team fell to Owens Community College, 91–37, at the Ewing Activities Center Gymnasium Monday night.
The Commodores were without leading scorer Abbey Schmitz (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands HS) for the second half after she exited at the end of the first half due to injury and did not return. Schmitz finished with seven points, eight rebounds, and two steals.
Clara McCown (Oberlin, Ohio/Oberlin HS) led LCCC with nine points and added four rebounds and three blocked shots. BriAnna Slaughter (Lorain, Ohio/Brookside HS) also scored nine points off the bench and recorded three steals.
Camrin Lowder (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion HS) totaled four points and eight rebounds, while Abi Rhoades (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion HS) added three points and eight rebounds. Chloe Meng (Elyria, Ohio/First Baptist Christian HS) contributed five points and four assists. Chelsey Lantsberry (Wakeman, Ohio/Vermilion HS) pulled down a rebound in limited minutes.
As a team, LCCC recorded 42 rebounds and six blocked shots. The Commodores shot 28 percent from the field and 21 percent from three-point range, connecting on three three-pointers, including two in the fourth quarter.
