Slow Start Dooms Commodores On The Road vs. Wayne

December 13, 2025 - - The Lorain County Community College women's basketball team fell 74–54 to Wayne County Community College on Saturday afternoon in Detroit.

 

Wayne County built an early advantage, holding LCCC to 12 points combined in the first two quarters to take a 35–12 lead into halftime.  The Commodores responded with their strongest stretch after the break, scoring 21 points in each of the third and fourth quarters, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.

 

Abbey Schmitz (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands HS) led LCCC with 15 points.  Clara McCown (Oberlin, Ohio/Oberlin HS) added a solid all-around performance with 13 points and a team-high eight rebounds.  Abi Rhoades (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion HS) also reached double figures, finishing with 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting.

 

Chloe Meng (Elyria, Ohio/First Baptist Christian) provided a spark off the bench, scoring eight points and connecting on two three-pointers, while Camrin Lowder (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion HS) and Chelsey Lantsberry (Wakeman, Ohio/Vermilion HS) each chipped in two points.
