Women’s Basketball Comes up Short to Terra State at Home

December 3, 2025 - - The Lorain County Community College women's basketball team battled through a tightly contested matchup with Terra State Community College on Wednesday night but ultimately fell 61–51 inside the Ewing Activities Center.

After a competitive opening quarter, Chloe Meng (Elyria, Ohio/First Baptist Christia n HS) gave the Commodores their first spark of momentum early in the second with a three-pointer that pushed LCCC in front. But foul trouble struck soon after as leading scorer Abbey Schmitz (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands HS) picked up her fourth foul in the period, forcing her to the bench for the remainder of the half. Terra State capitalized, taking a 27–24 lead into halftime.

Despite the setback, Schmitz returned in the third quarter and immediately reignited the offense, scoring five straight points to pull LCCC within one. Clara McCown (Oberlin, Ohio/Oberlin HS) followed by sinking two free throws to tie the game, and moments later Bri'Anna Slaughter (Lorain, Ohio/Brookside HS) drilled a three to give the Commodores the lead near the midway point of the third.

Terra State responded with a late-quarter surge, reclaiming control and carrying a seven-point advantage into the fourth. LCCC continued to fight, but the Titans never surrendered their lead again.

Meng led the Commodores with 17 points, hitting five threes and grabbing five rebounds. Schmitz added 15 points and 8 rebounds despite the foul trouble, while McCown contributed 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Slaughter finished with 5 points, and Camrin Lowder (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion HS) added 3 points, 5 assists, and 2 steals.
