Women's Basketball Falls To Bay College In Season Opener
Oct. 31, 2025 - - The Lorain County Community College women's basketball team opened its 2025–26 season on the road Friday night, battling hard early before falling to Bay College, 103–30, at the Terrace Bay Hotel Tip-Off Classic in Escanaba, Mich.
The Commodores came out strong defensively, holding Bay to just 11 first-quarter points and trailing by only three (11–8) after the opening 10 minutes.
Sophomore forward Abbey Schmitz (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands HS) led the Commodores on the boards with six rebounds, adding six points, and a block. Fellow sophomore Michelle Echevarria (Ponce, Puerto Rico/Lehigh HS) also contributed six points and five rebounds.
Freshman guard Camrin Lowder (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion HS) made an impact at the free-throw line, scoring four points while grabbing three rebounds and notching two steals. Clara McCown (Oberlin, Ohio/Oberlin HS) matched that output with four points and four rebounds, providing energy and hustle throughout her 35 minutes of play.
Sophomore guard Chloe Meng (Elyria, Ohio/First Baptist Christian HS) went 2-for-3 from the field for four points, while freshman Chelsey Lantsberry (Wakeman, Ohio/Vermilion HS) chipped in three points and two rebounds off the bench.
