LCCC Brings Back Commodore Invitational; Robinson and Gallo Place In Top Three
September 12, 2025 - - For the first time since 2017, Lorain County Community College hosted the Commodore Invitational cross country race on its Elyria campus Friday afternoon.
The 5K event, which included both men and women, was a non-team scoring race that featured competitors from Marietta College, Wilberforce University, Terra State Community College, and LCCC.
Sophomore Jared Robinson (Grafton, Ohio/Midview HS) led the way for the Commodores with a strong runner-up finish in 17:02.8, followed closely by Franco Gallo (Avon, Ohio/Avon HS), who placed third in 17:46.9. Brady Hurst (8th, 20:00.1), Mitchell Jackson (10th, 20:48.8), and Tanner Sweeney (11th, 20:57.8) rounded out the top five finishers for LCCC.
"Very happy to have the Commodore Invitational back on our campus after an eight-year hiatus," said LCCC Cross Country Head Coach Jim Powers. "I appreciate all the teams that made the trip to compete and hope to have them back next year. We have a great course here on campus and we couldn't ask for better weather today for our first race back. We kept it small this year with just one race, but next year we are hoping to have two races for men and women with more competitors."
