Commodores Hang On To Beat Bryant & Stratton College For Third Straight Win

February 4, 2026 - - The Lorain County Community College men's basketball team held off Bryant & Stratton (Ohio) for a 78–76 victory Wednesday night at the Ewing Activities Center Gymnasium.  It was the Commodores third straight win as they head into the final stretch of OCCAC play.

 

The Commodores built an early advantage and led by as many as 14 points in the first half, taking a 51–40 lead into the break after shooting 52 percent from the field over the opening 20 minutes.

 

Bryant & Stratton responded in the second half and took its first lead with 10:26 remaining, setting up a back-and-forth finish that featured eight ties and eight lead changes.

 

All five LCCC starters scored in double figures. Jayveon Roe (Euclid, Ohio/Villa Angela–St. Joseph HS) led the way with 19 points and seven rebounds, while Julian Daniels (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) added 16 points and seven boards.  Dennis Pettis Jr. (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) finished with 15 points, Ike Rowser (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) contributed 12 points and six rebounds, and Aven Kielian (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) posted 12 points and a team-high 11 assists.

 

With the game on the line, Pettis Jr. (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) sealed the win at the free-throw line. He scored the final five points for the Commodores, going 5-for-6 from the stripe in the final 90 seconds to secure the two-point victory.

 

LCCC recorded 17 assists and 10 steals in the contest, matched Bryant & Stratton with 38 points in the paint, and closed the game by converting key free throws down the stretch despite struggling from the line in the second half (12-for-22).
