Commodores Defeat Community Christian For Second Straight Victory

February 2, 2026 - - The Lorain County Community College men's basketball team used a dominant second half to defeat Community Christian College on Monday night, 94–79, at the Ewing Activities Center Gymnasium.

 

Trailing 41–37 at halftime, the Commodores quickly erased the four-point deficit in the first couple of possessions of the second half and outscored the Lions 57–38 over the final 20 minutes.  The game featured three ties and six lead changes before LCCC took control in the second half, building a lead as large as 24 points.

 

All five starters scored in double figures for the Commodores.  OCCAC Player of the Week Ike Rowser (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS), coming off his 41-point performance against Hocking College on Saturday, led the way with 31 points on 11-of-14 shooting, including 6-of-9 from 3-point range, while adding five steals.  He has hit 16 shots from long range in his last two games.

 

Dennis Pettis Jr. (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) finished with 18 points and 10 assists, his second double-double of the season.  Jayveon Roe (Euclid, Ohio/Villa Angela–St. Joseph HS) added 18 points and seven rebounds.  Julian Daniels (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) recorded his third double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Aven Kielian (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) contributed 10 points and five assists.

 

LCCC shot 48 percent from the field and 41 percent from three-point range, connecting on 7-of-17 from beyond the arc. The Commodores were efficient at the free-throw line in the second half, going 11-of-13 after halftime to finish 13-of-19 for the game.

 

Defensively, LCCC forced 19 turnovers and turned them into 28 points.
