Ike Rowser Drains Late Three To Give Commodores First Win
January 14, 2026 - - The Lorain County Community College men's basketball team escaped Nelsonville, Ohio, on Wednesday evening with a 102–101 win against Hocking College thanks to a late three-pointer from Ike Rowser (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS).
The Commodores' first win of the 2025–26 campaign did not come easy. LCCC (1-17, 1-7) had to come back from 17 points down in the first half and then survive a late rally after nearly giving up a five-point lead in the final minutes.
Both teams traded leads down the stretch, but the Commodores found themselves up five with two minutes remaining before Hocking chipped away and cut the lead to 99–98.
With 20 seconds left, the Hawks (5-11, 1-6) knocked down a baseline jumper to take a 100–99 lead. Rowser's three-point attempt on the ensuing Commodore possession hit the front rim, and Hocking grabbed the rebound. LCCC then fouled, sending the Hawks to the free-throw line, where they went 1-of-2 to take a 101–99 advantage. The Commodores still had eight seconds to make something happen after a timeout.
As Dennis Pettis Jr. (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) brought the ball up the floor, Aven Kielian (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) set a screen on Rowser's defender to free him up. Pettis found Rowser, who drained the go-ahead three-pointer with 0.7 seconds remaining. Hocking's desperation heave missed, the Commodores secured their first victory, and mobbed Rowser in celebration.
Jayveon Roe (Euclid, Ohio/Villa Angela–St. Joseph HS) gave LCCC its first lead of the second half at the 12-minute mark when he grabbed a rebound off a missed Hocking shot and went coast-to-coast for a contested bucket in the paint to put the Commodores ahead 68–67.
LCCC had trailed by as many as 17 points in the first half but used an 11–2 run late in the period to cut the Hawks' lead to nine and stay within striking distance.
Two Commodores scored over 20 points, led by Pettis Jr. (23 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals) and Julian Daniels (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS), who poured in 18 of his points in the first half off the bench. Roe finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season.
Rowser added 19 points, five rebounds, and three assists, including the game-winning shot.
Kielian scored just one point but filled the stat sheet with nine assists, eight rebounds (career-high), and three steals.
The Commodores also took care of the basketball, committing just five turnovers for the entire game.
