January 5, 2026 - - The Lorain County Community College men's basketball team showed resilience after a slow start but ultimately fell 103–88 to Pennsylvania Highlands Community College on Monday night inside the Ewing Activities Center Gymnasium.
LCCC trailed 59–39 at halftime after Pennsylvania Highlands shot 56 percent in the opening half, but the Commodores responded with a much stronger second-half effort. LCCC outscored the Black Bears 49–44 after the break and cut the deficit to single digits at the midway point of the second half before Pennsylvania Highlands was able to hold on down the stretch.
Jayveon Roe (Euclid, Ohio/Villa Angela–St. Joe's HS) led the Commodore starters with 24 points and 11 rebounds, recording his third double-double of the season while going 8-of-15 from the field and 8-of-10 at the free-throw line. Dennis Pettis Jr. (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) provided a big lift off the bench with a game-high 29 points, knocking down 9-of-19 shots and 11-of-14 from the foul line.
Ike Rowser (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) added 15 points and three 3-pointers, while Aven Kielian (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) contributed nine points and six assists. Tyberious Kovach (Lodi, Ohio/Cloverleaf HS) chipped in three points, and Julian Daniels (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) added six points and four rebounds.
As a team, LCCC finished with a 50–48 edge in points in the paint and matched Pennsylvania Highlands with 23 points off turnovers. The Commodores also received 34 points from their bench and improved their shooting in the second half, hitting 44 percent from the floor and 57 percent from three-point range after halftime.
