Butler County Stifles LCCC Down the Stretch
January 3, 2026 - - The Lorain County Community College men's basketball team put together one of its strongest offensive performances of the season but came up short in a 127–117 loss at Butler County Community College on Saturday afternoon in Butler, Pa.
LCCC turned the ball over just two times and recorded 12 assists in the first half, but the Commodores couldn't clamp down defensively and went into the break trailing 76–55.
Despite the 21-point deficit, LCCC made a push midway through the second half. They trimmed the Butler lead to single digits near the midway mark and then Quavion Grant (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS) found Ike Rowser (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) for a long three-pointer that cut Butler's lead to 104–103 with 6:55 remaining. Butler answered with 10 straight points and went on a 20–7 run to build a 124–110 advantage with just over a minute left. The Commodores tried to close the gap with seven straight points to trim the margin to seven with 28 seconds remaining, but the Pioneers held on to secure the win.
Offensively, LCCC was led by Jayveon Roe (Euclid, Ohio/Villa Angela–St. Joe's HS), who poured in a game-high 32 points and added 12 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Rowser delivered a strong all-around performance with 23 points, five assists, and four made 3-pointers. Julian Daniels (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) chipped in 17 points, while Dennis Pettis Jr. (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) added a big boost off the bench with 20 points in his first game of the season after returning from injury.
