October 2, 2025 - - The Lorain County Community College women's volleyball team opened strong against Cuyahoga Community College on Wednesday night, taking the first set in front of their home crowd, but the Commodores couldn't sustain the momentum and ultimately fell in four sets (25-23, 19-25, 13-25, 18-25).
LCCC came out swinging in the opener, hitting .196 as a team and grinding out a 25-23 win to grab the early lead. From there, Tri-C's steady attack proved difficult to contain, but the Commodores continued to battle through each rally.
Offensively, Gabriella Habeck (Huron, Ohio/Edison HS) led the Commodores with 12 kills, 12 digs, and 13 points overall. Sydney Robinson (Oberlin, Ohio/Firelands HS) added 8 kills and 4 digs, while setter Madelyn Peters (North Ridgeville, Ohio/North Ridgeville HS) turned in a solid all-around effort with 6 kills, 15 assists, 2 aces, and 6 digs.
Defensively, libero Ally Rumancik (North Ridgeville, Ohio/Olmsted Falls HS) was everywhere, racking up a team-high 28 digs to go along with 2 service aces. Freshman middle blocker Jaleah Wright (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria HS) contributed at the net with 4 kills and 4 block assists, while Alexis Faurot (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake HS) and Gabbie Barrison (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria HS) combined for 7 block assists.
As a team, LCCC tallied 32 kills, 30 assists, 65 digs, and 14 block assists while showing grit after every point.
