September 21, 2025 - - The Lorain County Community College women's volleyball team split a pair of conference road matches over the weekend, rallying for an impressive four-set victory at Clark State College on Friday night before battling first-place Edison State Community College in a hard-fought three-set loss on Saturday.
Friday, Sept. 19 – LCCC 3, Clark State 1
After dropping the opening set, the Commodores stormed back to win three straight (22-25, 25-18, 25-14, 25-20) and secure the victory over the Eagles. LCCC's offense came alive in the third set, hitting .481 and never looking back.
Sydney Robinson (Oberlin, Ohio/Firelands HS) powered the attack with 14 kills, 3 aces. Madelyn Peters (North Ridgeville, Ohio/North Ridgeville HS) shined with 13 kills, 18 assists, 4 aces, and 4 digs. Gabriella Habeck (Huron, Ohio/Edison HS) added 7 kills, 4 aces, and 6 digs, while Gabbie Barrison (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS) chipped in 5 kills, 2 aces, and 2 blocks. Libero Ally Rumancik (North Ridgeville, Ohio/Olmsted Falls HS) had 19 digs and 4 aces.
Saturday, Sept. 20 – Edison State 3, LCCC 0
The following morning, the Commodores faced off against Edison State, the conference leader, and refused to back down. After dropping the first two sets 20-25, 20-25, LCCC forced extra points in the third before Edison prevailed, 28-26.
Habeck led the way, posting 15 kills, 10 digs, and 4 blocks. Peters added 5 kills, 15 assists, and 2 aces, while Robinson chipped in 6 kills, 2 aces, and 5 digs. Jahieda Wright (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) contributed 5 kills and 4 block assists, and Rumancik 14 digs.

With the split, LCCC moves to 4-6 overall and 2-3 in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference. LCCC returns home to the Ewing Activities Center for their next matchup at home against the Cuyahoga Community College Triceratops.
