Commodores Get First OCCAC Win vs. Terra State CC
September 11, 2025 - - The Lorain County Community College women's volleyball team earned its first Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) win of the season on Wednesday night, outlasting Terra State in a five-set battle (25-21, 25-23, 20-25, 10-25, 15-9). With the victory, the Commodores move to 1-1 in conference play and 2-4 overall.
LCCC came out strong, taking the first two sets behind steady offensive play, before Terra State rallied to force a deciding fifth set. The Commodores delivered under pressure, hitting a blistering .692 as a team in the final set with only a single error. Gabriella Habeck (Huron, Ohio/Edison HS) and Sydney Robinson (Oberlin, Ohio/Firelands HS) led the way in the clutch, combining for nine kills on a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage to close out the Titans.
Habeck had another standout match, posting 22 kills with 13 digs and a service ace. Robinson added 10 kills on .265 hitting. Setter Madelyn Peters (North Ridgeville, Ohio/North Ridgeville HS) orchestrated the attack with 28 assists, 6 kills, 3 service aces, and 6 digs, while Jaleah Wright (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) chipped in an efficient 5 kills on a .455 hitting percentage.
Defensively, Ally Rumancik (North Ridgeville, Ohio/Olmsted Falls HS) was outstanding in the back row, collecting 27 digs, while Leasya Castro (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS) added 11 digs. As a team, LCCC finished with 51 kills, 67 digs, and 7 service aces and hit .158.
