Commodores Split Saturday Doubleheader at Butler Tri-Match

September 7, 2025 - - The Lorain County Community College women's volleyball team (1-4) turned in a full day of action on Saturday at the Butler County Community College Tri-match, earning a sweep over Harrisburg Area Community College (25-13, 25-23, 25-20) before falling to host Butler in three sets (15-25, 14-25, 27-29).

 

In the opener, the Commodores came out sharp and controlled the tempo, defeating Harrisburg in straight sets to secure their first victory of the season.  The Commodores hit .280 and built a 10-point lead on the Hawks.   Gabriella Habeck (Huron, Ohio/Edison HS) paced the attack with 11 kills, 10 digs, and a block assist, while Sydney Robinson (Oberlin, Ohio/Firelands HS) added 7 kills on a .375 hitting percentage.

 

Setter Madelyn Peters (North Ridgeville, Ohio/North Ridgeville HS) filled the stat sheet with 15 assists, four kills, four service aces, and eight digs.  Libero Ally Rumancik (North Ridgeville, Ohio/Olmsted Falls HS) anchored the defense with 18 digs.

 

As a team, LCCC totaled 30 kills, 15 service aces, and 52 digs in a balanced performance over Harrisburg.

 

The Commodores tried to carry the momentum of their first win into their match against Butler, but the first set saw them only muster six kills despite making no errors.

 

After dropping the second set, they pushed the Pioneers to the brink in the third game before falling 29-27.  Habeck once again led the way with 16 kills on .333 hitting to go with 13 digs and a block.  Peters had 23 assists and 4 kills, while Rumancik was steady on the back line with a team-high 21 digs.  Gabbie Barrison (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS) and Jaleah Wright (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) chipped in at the net with a combined 2.5 blocks, while Alexis Faurot (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS) added 8 digs.

 

Next Up:

The Commodores travel to Terra State Community College on Wednesday to try and pick up their first Ohio Community College Athletic Conference win of the 2025 season. Match begins at 6 p.m.
