LCCC Volleyball Opens 2025 Season At Owens Invitational vs. Delta and Sandhills

August 29, 2025 - - The Lorain County Community College volleyball team opened its 2025 season on Friday at the Owens Community College Invitational, taking on Region 12 DIII foe Delta College (25-20, 25-16, 25-21) in the morning and Sandhills Community College (25-18, 25-16, 24-26) in the afternoon.

While the Commodores dropped both matches, the day was marked by strong individual performances and steady improvement, highlighted by a near upset in the third set against Sandhills.  They hit .242 in that third set with 10 kills against two errors as they forced overtime on the Flyers.

Sophomore Gabriella Habeck (Huron, OH/Edison HS), coming off her freshman season where she made Second Team All-OCCAC, set the tone on offense and defense, finishing the day with 14 kills and 25 digs across two matches. She also contributed defensively at the net with two blocks.

Freshman setter Madelyn Peters (North Ridgeville, OH/North Ridgeville HS) made an immediate impact in her collegiate debut, recording 22 assists, 8 service aces, and 8 kills on the day.

Sydney Robinson (Oberlin, OH/Firelands HS) chipped in with 6 kills and was part of six blocks, while Gabbie Barrison (Lorain, OH/Clearview HS) provided efficiency at the net against Sandhills, hitting .375 with three kills and four block assists.

In the back row, sophomore Ally Rumancik (North Ridgeville, OH/Olmsted Falls HS) anchored the defense with 25 digs on the day, while freshman Jahieda Figueroa (Lorain, OH/Lorain HS) added 12 assists and four service aces across the two matches.

Next Up:

The Commodores will return to the court on September 3, 2025 when they travel to the East Campus Gymnasium at Cuyahoga Community College to open up Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play against the Triceratops.  Match begins at 6 p.m.
