September 7, 2024 - - The Lorain County Community College women's volleyball team lost a tough four-set match to No. 12 Butler County Community College in the Commodores home opener. LCCC (2-5) won the opening set only for Butler (6-0) to take the next three and escape the Ewing Activities Center with a win.

Recap
In the first set, the Commodores built a 17-11 advantage to force Butler into a timeout. The Pioneers were able to cut the deficit to two points but LCCC used a 4-1 run thanks to an attacking error by Butler and kills by Gabriella Habeck and Ava Haddix. The Commodores hit .289 as a team with 16 kills against five errors.
In the second set it was the Commodores who tried to mount a comeback. Trailing by a couple points for most of the game, LCCC tied it up at 17-17 when Butler called a timeout. LCCC briefly went ahead 20-19 but Butler ended up prevailing to even the match.
The third set was all Pioneers as they built a double digit lead and then held off a late run by the Commodores to go up 2-1.
LCCC and Butler traded points early in the fourth set until both teams started creating scoring runs. The Commodores built a 12-8 lead. But the Pioneers battled back to tie it at 12. Then the Commodores used another 4-point run to force Butler to call a timeout. LCCC held a five point lead in the fourth set, 21-16, but the Pioneers used a 9-2 run to win the set and the match.
