October 11, 2023 - - Lorain County Community College women's volleyball picked up their seventh win of the season Wednesday evening and their 12th straight victory over the Lakeland Community College Lakers going back to the 2017 season.

Recap
Niyanna Flowers (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS) got the Commodores off and running with a service ace and they never looked back in the first set, building up an 8-2 lead to force the Lakers into a timeout. LCCC continued to keep the pressure on as they combined to hit for .333 and connect for 14 kills in the first set to cruise to a 25-17.
The second set started with the Lakers jumping out to a 3-0 lead before Kylie Zocchi (Avon, Ohio/Avon HS) got the Commodores on the board with a kill thanks to an assist from Riley. Lakeland increased their lead to 12-9 before the Commodores ripped off a 6-0 run capped off by back-to-back aces from Bunevich to put LCCC out front 15-12 when Lakeland called a timeout. LCCC used a 10-3 run after the break to finish off the set 25-16.
LCCC got the first point in the third set and never gave up the lead as they took the final game 25-19 to defeat the Lakers and improve to 6-4 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play.

LCCC will travel to Piqua, Ohio next Friday, Oct. 20, 2023 for a rematch with the Edison State Chargers who defeated the Commodores to open the season on August 19, 2023 in four sets.
