Recap
The Commodores (5-8, 4-4) got off to a sluggish start against the overmatched Titans (2-10, 1-5) who were playing with only six players. LCCC faced a little adversity of their own with outside hitter Abbey Williams (North Ridgeville, Ohio/First Baptist Christian Schools) sidelined with an injury. The Titans grabbed the early lead in the first set 7-4, but the tide shifted when Filice knocked down three kills to tie the match up. A hitting error by the Titans on the next play gave LCCC the lead and they never trailed after, winning set one, 25-16.
Set two saw the Titans nearly steal one from the Commodores. With the score tied at 10-10, Todd got two blocks to put the Commodores up. LCCC's lead eventually swelled to 21-15 and looked to be headed to another easy win. However, the Titans regrouped and ripped off seven straight points to take a 22-21 lead to force a Commodore timeout. From there, the wind was out of the Titans sails as Todd and Zocchi each put down kills to help LCCC win the set 25-22.
After the Titans took yet another early lead in set three, LCCC responded in a big way. Trailing 4-3, they took the lead with two errors by the Titans. They padded that lead with a Riley set over, which was followed by an ace from Zocchi, a block kill from Todd, and concluded with a kill from Gabbie Barrison to get the Commodores out ahead for good, 10-4. They would go on to finish Terra State 25-13 in the final set.
