Volleyball Secures 10th Victory In OCCAC Play; Close Regular Season With Sweep Against Clark State

October 23, 2022 - - On Saturday, the Lorain County Community College volleyball team closed out their regular season with a straight set victory against the Clark State Community College Eagles (25-20, 25-19, 25-17).  The Commodores finish with a 12-6 record with a 10-4 mark in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference.

As a team, the Commodores hit .212 for the match including .283 in the third and final set where they committed only two errors.  Chelsey Farris (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria HS) had 13 kills while hitting .478 with two services aces and two solo blocks.

Maggie Riley (Elyria, Ohio/Midview HS) had 11 kills with no errors hitting .393 for the match.  The freshman also assisted on 11 kills and logged eight digs.

Jordan Benware (Avon Lakes, Ohio/Avon Lake HS) had a team high 24 assists, her third straight contest with 20+ assists.  Izabel Gallardo-Santo Domingo (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria HS) had her third 30+ dig match of the season with 33 and finished the season with 5.62 digs per set for first in the OCCAC. Brooklyn Ollis (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands HS) also had 13 digs.

LCCC's postseason begins as they travel to Perrysburg this Tuesday to square off with the Delta College Pioneers (7-15) in the first round of the NJCAA DIII Region XII Championship held at Owens Community College.  Winner of that contest will advance to play No. 1 seed Owens Community College.
