February 4, 2026 - - The Lorain County Community College women's basketball team dropped a 67–57 decision to Bryant & Stratton (Ohio) on Wednesday night at the Ewing Activities Center Gymnasium.
LCCC battled early and played to a 21–21 tie at the end of the first quarter. The Commodores trailed by just three at halftime, 32–29, after a competitive opening half. In the third quarter, two free throws by Abbey Schmitz (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands HS) pulled LCCC to within three points of the Bobcats, but that was as close as the Commodores would get as Bryant & Stratton gradually extended its lead in the final period.
Schmitz led the way with 32 points and nine rebounds, shooting 38 percent from the field and hitting 11-of-12 from the free throw line. Clara McCown (Oberlin, Ohio/Oberlin HS) provided a spark off the bench with 12 points and nine rebounds.
As a team, LCCC shot 38 percent from the field and 65 percent from the free-throw line. The Commodores recorded 12 assists and 40 rebounds, staying within striking distance for much of the contest before Bryant & Stratton used a late run to secure the double-digit win.
