January 31, 2026 - - The Lorain County Community College women's basketball team fell to Hocking College, 77–40, on Saturday at the Ewing Activities Center Gymnasium.
Hocking jumped out to a 30–7 lead after the first quarter and maintained control throughout, taking a 43–18 advantage into halftime. The Hawks extended their lead in the second half, outscoring LCCC 34–22 over the final two quarters.
Abbey Schmitz (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands HS) led LCCC with 12 points and 11 rebounds, recording her eighth double-double of the season while adding four assists and two steals. Chloe Meng (Elyria, Ohio/First Baptist Christian HS) also reached double figures with 10 points, knocking down two three-pointers and pulling down six rebounds.
Clara McCown (Oberlin, Ohio/Oberlin HS) provided a spark off the bench with nine points and four rebounds. Abi Rhoades (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion HS) contributed four points, seven rebounds, and two steals.
