LCCC Women Fall On The Road To Jamestown
January 16, 2026 - - The Lorain County Community College women's basketball team led for much of the night before falling 61–47 at Jamestown Community College on Friday evening.
LCCC built a 31–26 halftime lead but Jamestown pulled ahead in the third and the Commodores trailed by just one point heading into the final quarter. Abbey Schmitz (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands HS) immediately gave the Commodores the lead on their first possession of the fourth but Jamestown scored on their next two possessions to go up three points with a little over nine minutes left in the game.
Thanks to Schmitz and Chloe Meng (Elyria, Ohio/First Baptist Christian HS), LCCC rallied on back-to-back possessions to retake the lead but that's when the Commodores went cold. They were limited to two points over the final eight minutes, allowing the hosts to close the game on a decisive run.
Schmitz led the Commodores with 18 points and a team-high 10 rebounds, recording a double-double (her seventh of the season) while adding three assists. Meng finished with 14 points, knocking down four three-pointers, and added four rebounds and two assists. Abi Rhoades (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion HS) contributed seven points and six rebounds, while Chelsey Lantsberry (Wakeman, Ohio/Vermilion HS) added four points, seven rebounds, and two assists.
As a team, LCCC shot 34 percent from the field and finished with 40 total rebounds, keeping the contest close through three quarters before Jamestown outscored the Commodores 21–8 in the final period.
