Abbey Schmitz Wins OCCAC Player of the Week

December 23, 2025 - - Abbey Schmitz (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands HS) has been named the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) Player of the Week for December 22, 2025.  It marks the second time in her career she has earned the conference honor, previously winning the award on January 27, 2025.

Schmitz posted two high-scoring performances during the week, totaling 63 points over two games.  On December 16 at Kent State Tuscarawas, she scored 36 points on 14-of-27 shooting, including 4-of-10 from three-point range, and went 4-of-5 from the free-throw line.  She added 10 rebounds, four assists, one steal, and one block in 35 minutes before going down with an injury in the fourth quarter against the Golden Eagles.

She followed with 27 points against SUNY Niagara on December 20, shooting 8-of-17 from the field and 10-of-11 at the free-throw line.  Schmitz also recorded six rebounds, one assist, and three blocks.
