Schmitz and McCown Score in Double Figures in Loss to Niagara County CC

December 20, 2025 - - The Lorain County Community College women's basketball team fell 100–45 to SUNY Niagara County Community College on Saturday afternoon inside the Ewing Activities Center Gymnasium.

LCCC was led by Abbey Schmitz (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands HS), who finished with a team-high 27 points on 8-of-17 shooting and went 10-of-11 from the free-throw line.  Schmitz also added six rebounds, three steals, and a block.  

Clara McCown (Oberlin, Ohio/Oberlin HS) contributed 10 points and five rebounds off the bench, while Chloe Meng (Elyria, Ohio/First Baptist Christian HS) added three points and four rebounds.  

Abi Rhoades (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion HS) pulled down five rebounds and dished out two assists.

SUNY Niagara led 44–19 at halftime.

The Commodores had a hard time getting to the free throw line, but converted 11-of-13 shots when they did get a chance for easy points.  They finished with 40 rebounds in the contest.

The Commodores are off until after the holidays and return to the Ewing Activities Center Gymnasium on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 when they host the Lakeland Lakers at 5:30 p.m.
