Winnen Earns NJCAA DIII All-American Honors

April 10, 2025 - - Lorain County Community College sophomore Ally Winnen (Lorain, Ohio/Elyria Catholic HS) has been named to the NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball All-American Second Team following one of the most dominant seasons in program history.

Winnen was a force on both ends of the court, breaking multiple school records and finishing the year as one of the top players in the nation. She set a new LCCC single-season rebounding record with 378 boards and, at one point, held the school record for most points in a season with 507—before teammate Abigail Schmitz (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands HS) surpassed her in the final game of the season.

Averaging 23.0 points and 17.2 rebounds per game, Winnen ranked among the top five nationally in five statistical categories, including second in total rebounds and offensive rebounds. She also led the OCCAC in field goal percentage (53.4%), total rebounds, and points per game.

Her season was highlighted by a 34-point, 14-field goal performance against Lakeland and a 29-rebound effort against Bryant & Stratton (OH). Winnen recorded 19 double-doubles and seven 20-point/20-rebound games. She earned OCCAC Player of the Week honors four times and was named NJCAA National Player of the Week on Dec. 18.

Winnen becomes the fourth LCCC Commodore to earn NJCAA All-American honors during the 2024-25 school year. She joins Ava Haddix (Amherst, Ohio / Marion L. Steele HS), who earned Second Team honors for volleyball, and cross country runners Madison Palmer and Michael Couture, who were both named All-Americans after a strong showing at the NJCAA Nationals in Mechanicsville, Va. In November.
