Winnen Captures NJCAA DIII Player of the Week Honors
December 18, 2024 - - Dominating performances in back-to-back games have earned Ally Winnen (Lorain, Ohio/Elyria Catholic HS), a standout sophomore center on the Lorain County Community College Women's Basketball team, the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DIII Player of the Week honor. This is her first time receiving the weekly award from the NJCAA.
On December 11, against Cuyahoga Community College, Winnen posted 22 points, shooting 52.6% (10-19) from the field while pulling down 22 rebounds. Her effort on the boards included 8 offensive rebounds, giving her team multiple second-chance opportunities. She also contributed 3 assists, 3 steals, and 3 blocks, showcasing her all-around impact on both ends of the court.
Four days later, on December 15, she delivered an even more dominant performance against Wheeling University's JV squad. Winnen exploded for 31 points while adding 23 rebounds, for her third 20-20 game of the season
Among her peers in the NJCAA, Winnen ranks in the top 5 in offensive rebounds (75), defensive rebounds (96), total rebounds (171), and rebounds per game (15.5). She is also ranked 11th in total blocks (20) and 15th in total field goals made.

Winnen and the Commodores are off until January 4, 2025 where they will travel to SUNY Niagara County Community College in Sanborn, N.Y. for a 1 p.m. tip against the Thunderwolves.
