Winnen Receives Second OCCAC Player of the Week Honor

December 10, 2024 - - Lorain County Community College women's basketball center Ally Winnen (Lorain, Ohio/Elyria Catholic HS) received her second Ohio Community College Athletic Conference Player of the Week Honor this week after a dominant performance against Lakeland Community College last Saturday.  She splits the honor with Allison Hughes of Edison State Community College.

The sophomore from Lorain scored a season-high 34 points on 14-of-19 shooting (6-of-8 on free throws) against the Lakers as she led the Commodores to their first OCCAC win of the season.  In addition to Winnen's scoring, she also pulled down 16 rebounds with 10 coming on the offensive end. She had two blocks, a steal, and an assist in Saturday's win.

Winnen ranks first in the OCCAC in rebounds per game (14), total blocks (15), and field goal percentage (52.6) through nine games played this season.  She is second in the league in points per game with 17.

Winnen and the Commodores will travel to Cuyahoga Community College on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, for a rematch with the Triceratops at 5:30 p.m. on Cuyahoga's East Campus Gymnasium.  Tri-C defeated the Commodores 63-56 in overtime on November 16, 2024.
