Commodores Fade in Second Half vs Kent State Tuscarawas

November 23, 2025 - - The Lorain County Community College men's basketball team fought in the first twenty minutes, but a cold stretch in the second half doomed the Commodores as they fell (0-7) to Kent State Tuscarawas (4-3), 90-73, inside the Ewing Activities Center Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon.

 

At the 12-minute mark of the first half, the Commodores trailed by eight points but used the next three and a half minutes to erase the deficit, culminating when Julian Daniels (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) drove into the lane, absorbed contact, and scored to give LCCC a 21-20 lead. Three-pointers from Bryson Hicks (Elyria, Ohio/Midview HS) and Ike Rowser (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) also aided the Commodores' comeback.

 

LCCC trailed by two at the break, 46-44.

 

Jayveon Roe (Euclid, Ohio/Villa Angela-St. Joseph HS) tied the game at 48 in the first minute of the second half, and then it was Daniels again who gave the Commodores the lead with a steal and score on the next possession. Rowser kept the Commodores in front with a pair of free throws a few minutes later, but the Golden Eagles responded with a 19-0 run to take command.

 

Daniels finished with 10 points, six rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Rowser led the Commodores with 19 points on 7-of-16 shooting and added two rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Roe scored 12 points with four rebounds and one assist.

 

Anthony Atkins (Cleveland, Ohio/Valley Forge HS) posted four points, four rebounds, and two assists. Aven Kiliean (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) added five points, three rebounds, and four assists. Off the bench, Tyberious Kovach (Lodi, Ohio/Cloverleaf HS) scored eight points and grabbed two rebounds, while Timothy Kikola (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion HS) added six points and two rebounds.

 

LCCC forced 19 Kent State turnovers, converting those into 20 points, and matched the Golden Eagles with 23 bench points.
