November 16, 2024 - - The Lorain County Community College men's basketball team lost their Ohio Community College Athletic Conference opener against Cuyahoga Community College, 122-72.
LCCC (0-6, 0-1) had to play without OCCAC Player of the Week Dennis Pettis Jr. (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) who got injured during Thursday's contest against Community Christian College.
The Triceratops (3-1, 1-0) got off to a hot start from the field and quickly led the Commodores 10-0 in the first two minutes. Tri-C took a 19 point lead into the half and continued to build their lead from there, outscoring the Commodores 71-40 in the second half.
Deonte Benejan (Queens, N.Y./Lorain HS) led the Commodore offense with 17 points on 7-for-11 shooting. Kayden Thomas (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain HS) also scored in double-figures with 11. Dejahn Smith had 11 rebounds and three blocks.
