December 10, 2022 - - The Lorain County Community College men's basketball team spoiled a near-perfect first half Saturday afternoon, losing to Clark State Community College in overtime, 97-91.
The Eagles used a 19-point second half comeback against the Commodores to force overtime. The momentum for the Eagles carried over into the extra period as they outscored LCCC 14-8. LCCC shot 65% from the field in the first half, going 6-for-8 from downtown, building a 15-point lead at the break.
Jayden Roberts (Wellington, Ohio/Wellington HS) had a career game for the Commodores, scoring 26 points (going a perfect 10-for-10 from the line) and grabbing eight rebounds. Quante May (Lorain, Ohio/Horizon Science Academy) also broke the 20-pt plateau for the Commodores with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals.
Jason Becka (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick HS) scored 14 points before fouling out in overtime. Casey Kelley (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands HS) scored six points but had a game high 10 assists.
LCCC will travel to Detroit, Mich. next week to take on Community Christian College on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m.
