December 17, 2022 – – The Lorain County Community College men's basketball team fell to the Lakeland Community College Lakers Saturday afternoon, 84-71. With the loss, LCCC falls to 4-7 and is still searching for their first win in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play.
The Commodores kept pace with the Lakers throughout the contest. Trailing by nine at the half, LCCC showed grit and determination at times, cutting the Lakeland lead to under ten late in the second half.
Leading LCCC in scoring was Lem Payne (Philadelphia, Pa./Mount Pleasant HS) with 22 points off the bench. Three other Commodores got into double figures as Jayden Roberts (Wellington, Ohio/Wellington HS) had 10 and a team-high eight rebounds. Casey Kelley (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands HS) had 10 points and a team-high five assists.
LCCC hosts the Butler County Community College Pioneers on Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the Ewing Activities Center.
