Men’s Basketball Falls to Wayne CCC, 98-58

December 29, 2022 - - The Lorain County Community College men's basketball team fell to Wayne County Community College Thursday evening, 98-58, in Detroit, Mich.

Leading scorer for the Commodores was Jayden Roberts (Wellington, Ohio/Wellington HS) with 12 points and a team-high six rebounds. Lem Payne (Philadelphia, Pa./Mount Pleasant HS) scored nine while Quante May (Cleveland, Ohio/Horizon Science Academy) had eight with four rebounds and two blocks. Austin Copen (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands HS) also had eight points scored with two triples.

The Commodores were looking to get a little revenge against Wayne who sneaked out of the Ewing Activities Center with a 61-60 win on Nov. 18.  The Wildcats were fueled by a furious second half comeback and a last second desperation three pointer by guard Sincere Key.

That chance to get revenge ended a mere few minutes into the contest as the Wildcats exploded out the gates to put LCCC into an early hole culminating with a 23-point lead at the break, 45-22.

Luqman Lateef (Cleveland, Ohio/Shaw HS), Brandon Fisher (Strongsville, Ohio/Columbia HS), and Casey Kelley (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands HS) each had seven points.

LCCC will face Schoolcraft College tomorrow at noon as part of the Wayne CCC Annual Men's Basketball Tournament.
