LCCC Closes Out NJCAAE Regular Season, Eyes Playoffs After Strong Week 7 Performances

November 10, 2025 – – The Lorain County Community College Esports program wrapped up the final week of NJCAAE regular-season competition with strong results across multiple titles and divisions.  As the Commodores head into postseason play, several teams and individual competitors finished with momentum, highlighted by continued success from the Valorant and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players, along with key victories from Hearthstone, Madden, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

 

Division III Results

LCCC's Valorant team, consisting of Austin Lukachko (North Ridgeville, Ohio/North Ridgeville HS), Brody Taylor (North Ridgeville, Ohio/North Ridgeville HS), Tyler Misconish (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville HS), Braylon Zeman (North Ridgeville, Ohio/North Ridgeville HS), and Kylie Zeman (North Ridgeville, Ohio/North Ridgeville HS), capped an excellent regular season by splitting a pair of matches.  The team swept Trinity Valley Community College, 2–0, before falling in a tight 2–1 battle to Crowder College.  They finished 9-1 in the regular season.

 

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 3v3 Crew Battle competition, the Commodores earned a key victory as Austin Lukachko, Gabriel Beckstrom (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS), and Christopher Gonet (Lorain, Ohio/LCCC Early College HS) teamed up for a 2–0 sweep against North Arkansas College.

 

The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 1v1 lineup delivered one of LCCC's top collective showings of the season.  Traceton Bell (Oberlin, Ohio/Oberlin HS) earned two narrow 3–2 wins over competitors from Coastal Bend and Hutchinson Community Colleges, while Anthony Moore (Columbus, Ohio/Graduation Alliance HS) picked up a 3–2 victory over Lake Region State College.  Gabriel Beckstrom (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS) went undefeated for the week, collecting four wins — including three 3–0 wins and one 3–1 triumph — over opponents from Shelton State, Navarro, and Marshalltown Community Colleges.

 

In Hearthstone, Veronica Gibson (Sandusky, Ohio/Trinity HS) tallied a pair of 3–1 victories against Finger Lakes Community College, while Xander Taylor (Elyria, Ohio/Huron HS) secured three wins — including a 3–0 sweep over Des Moines Area Community College and a 3–2 decision over Three Rivers College.

 

In Madden 1v1, Toby Gibson (Sandusky, Ohio/St. Mary's HS) earned his first match victory of the season, sweeping St. Clair County Community College, 2–0, before falling to Pearl River Community College.

 

In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Collin Zielinski (North Olmsted, Ohio/North Olmsted HS) closed out the regular season with another solid performance, going 2–2 in match play. Zielinski notched sweeps over Marshalltown Community College and Finger Lakes Community College, winning both series 4–0.

 

Meanwhile, in Chess, Jacob Kyer (Elyria, Ohio/Keystone HS) competed in Opt-In Qualifier play, falling in a pair of close matches to Central Community College and Crowder College.

 

Division I and II Results

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 1v1 Division I play, Jerron Warner (Avon, Ohio/Avon HS) continued his excellent fall campaign, collecting two match victories to close the regular season.  Warner opened with a dominant 3–0 sweep against Daytona State College before splitting a pair of matches with opponents from Brookdale Community College, including a 3–1 win.

 

In Division II Super Smash Bros. Ultimate play, Austin Lukachko (North Ridgeville, Ohio/North Ridgeville HS) earned a 3–2 win over Bergen Community College, while Traceton Bell (Oberlin, Ohio/Oberlin HS) impressed with a 3–0 sweep against Glen Oaks Community College to finish his week unbeaten across both divisions.

 

In Rainbow Six Siege Division I action, LCCC's roster of Jacob Kyer (Elyria, Ohio/Keystone HS), Noah Duncan (Walnut Cove, N.C./North Ridgeville HS), Cody Adkins (Elyria, Ohio/Midview HS), Anthony Moore (Columbus, Ohio/Graduation Alliance HS), and Lucas Hurley (LaGrange, Ohio/Keystone HS) faced Marshalltown Community College, falling 2–0 in their final regular-season contest.
