February 25, 2025 - - The Lorain County Community College #CommodoreEsports team competed in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on Tuesday night, winning three of four 1v1 matches in National Junior College Athletic Association Esports play.

Tuesday marked the first night of the spring season where all three tiers in the NJCAAE were active. Robert Rogers (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview HS) continued his winning ways in Tier 1 play, defeating Muskegon College and then sweeping Terra State Community College 3-0 in both matches. He improves to 4-0 on the season in Premier Series play in the NJCAAE.

Colby Cabrera (Amherst, Ohio/Marion L. Steele HS) picked up right where he left off in the fall, when he went undefeated in the regular season and secured the No. 1 seed in the Tier 2 Contender Series postseason. He dominated his opponent from Lackawanna College from the start, shutting them out in the first round with a three-stock victory. He cruised through four rounds, losing only three stocks to his opponent's 12.

Newcomer James O'Reilly (North Ridgeville, Ohio/North Ridgeville HS/LCJVS) fell behind 2-0 against his opponent from Florida Gateway College, who was playing as Wolf from Star Fox. He won the third round after switching characters, but his opponent was able to regroup and take rounds four and five to secure the win.
