Jackson, Soneson, and Grell Named to DIII All-OCCAC; Jackson Named DIII Player of the Year
May 29, 2026 - - Three members of the Lorain County Community College baseball team were recognized by the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference after being named to the OCCAC Division III All-Conference Team this week.
Sophomore first baseman/designated hitter/pitcher Jackson Frame (Newcastle, Australia/Callaghan HS), freshman third baseman/pitcher Leo Soneson (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood HS), and sophomore outfielder/catcher Carlos Grell (Cleveland, Ohio/Garrett Morgan HS) each earned all-conference honors following a record-setting season for the Commodores.
The trio helped lead LCCC to the most wins in program history since joining the NJCAA ranks. Their selections also marked the most All-OCCAC honorees in a single season in school history as an NJCAA program.
The three selections are the first for the Commodores since Jaden Nestor Fox (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion HS) earned OCCAC recognition and later went on to become an NJCAA Division III All-American following the 2024 season.
Frame finished his two-year LCCC career as one of the program's most productive offensive players. In 83 career games, he batted .340 with 72 hits, 52 RBI, 49 runs scored, 12 doubles, two triples, and six home runs. He also posted a .472 on-base percentage and .500 slugging percentage. During the 2026 season, Frame hit .308 with four home runs and 24 RBI in 42 games. He also contributed on the mound, earning a complete-game victory against Hocking on May 3 after throwing seven innings and allowing four runs.
Soneson emerged as one of the Commodores' top two-way players during his freshman campaign. At the plate, he hit .309 with 38 hits, 26 RBI, 24 runs scored, five doubles, and five home runs while recording a .473 on-base percentage and .472 slugging percentage. Soneson also made a major impact out of the bullpen, leading the conference in saves this season (5).
Grell provided versatility both offensively and defensively throughout the season while splitting time between right field and catcher. He appeared in 41 games and scored 26 runs while adding 29 hits, six doubles, 11 RBI, and six stolen bases. Grell got off to a slow start, collecting two hits in the month of March but hit safely in 17 of the last 23 games, including nine multi-hit games. He finished the year with a .375 on-base percentage and delivered several key performances late in the season, including a two-hit, two-RBI effort against Hocking on May 3 and a two-hit game against Terra State in the Region 12 Tournament.
