Commodores Baseball Team Partners With Lake Erie Crushers

March 5, 2026 - - The Lorain County Community College baseball team has announced an exciting new partnership with the Lake Erie Crushers, a semi-professional minor league baseball team based in Avon, Ohio.  Beginning with the upcoming 2026 season, the Commodores will use ForeFront Field for 20 games (10 doubleheaders) as well as 10 practices over the course of the season.

The facility, which opened in 2009 and seats 5,000 fans, has a rich history of hosting premier baseball and community events, including the Mid-American Conference Baseball Tournament, OHSAA regional championships, and community attractions such as Christmas Around the World and concerts by various artists.

"This marks a significant milestone for LCCC baseball," said LCCC Athletic Director Eric Lahetta.  "Providing student-athletes the opportunity to train and compete in a first-class facility while expanding community engagement and visibility for the college's athletic programs is a great thing for Jake and his staff."

The 2026 season will be the first year for new head coach Jake Solomon who joined the Commodores after a successful stint as the assistant coach at Cuyahoga Community College where the Triceratops baseball team went 44-8 with an undefeated 30-0 record in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play.
